Melting crayons!

Just like Hansel and Gretel needed to leave a trace in the woods so they didn't get lost, we too as a class, needed to make a path for our Minpin friends to find their way through the woods and escape the Grincher.

We cooked, yes cooked! lots of rocks collected from our forest school sessions. And then we let our artistic flare take over. These were great as they match everyone's style and they really did help make for a colourful path in the forest!

Making friends :)

So, there we were in the forest getting ready for a party with for the King Minpin and we realised that he didn't have any friends to invite. Luckily we had some stickers with us and a few creative friends!

China! ~The Dragon!~

A simple project with outstanding results!

China! ~Canvas lantern decorations~

We decided to make some lanterns for our China theme involving many textures.

The first stage was decorating the canvas - we chose the night sky and added sequins for stars.

The lanterns themselves were made from origami paper cut into shapes ranging from rectangles to pants (!).

We made our own puffy paint using flour and salt and food colouring to add a more 3D effect to our work.

They all looked amazing mounted onto the wall together!

Jingle sticks!

Out in the forest we like to sing songs. It's so much more fun with our own music!

We made great jingle sticks. The class found their own twigs and on a rainy day, we decorated them with yarn and bells, ready to use out in the forest.

England ~ We built a phone box!

An idea that blossomed into a crazy phonebox/beanstalk/flowers-everywhere kind of structure!

Playing with the pies was a clever activity for the class. Of course, they couldn't really get their heads around the idea of a 3 dimensional unit to hold the doors, but that wasn't really the point.

This activity encouraged team work, fine motor skills and a lot of conversation combined with imagination.

What started out as a phone box, became a house with different rooms! There was even a room for dancing! Everyone was happy!

The pub in Notting Hill and the phone box were the favourites of the class!

England...again! This time with attitude!

We started the month with our flag..this time, making it a l'il bit Banksy!!!

The painting was the easy part - the kids are used to that!

For the silhouettes, the teachers took A4 pictures with cool poses, cut out and the class each painted over their shadow!! Nice work everyone!!

Crazy Messy Art Day

Too much fun with paints and balloons!!!!

America - 4th July!!

We decorated a hula hoop with ribbons and yarn - the class learnt by themselves how to do the loop know and this activity was all theirs¬!

After, they interacted with it in many ways while they were playing, just sitting under it, pretending it was a shower, running through.... FUN!

America! Native American necklaces!

Next up, simple native American necklaces!

I found some pendants to colour (on the crayola website), which the kids took great care to do perfectly! And, then we dyed pasta in order to make our 'beads'. Threading the beads was another activity the kids loved, so this project was a winner all round!
Add all the beads together with the pendant....Da~ Daa~
